How Creative Collaboration Can Lead to Creative Freedom
Dearest Wonderful, Creative Y'all,
Recently, a wonderful artist named Cait Sherwood contacted me. She said she'd seen my Instagram feed and felt that our styles were like. When she invited me to make a shared journal, of grade I agreed.
Cait suggested using an accordion fold journal and I was dandy to try because I've never used an accordion periodical that was bound. As shortly as my Moleskine journal arrived in the post, I was bursting with excitement. I took my circle hole punches to information technology and couldn't wait to see how circles and holes would play with the accordion fold.
I'1000 in love with how this dynamic technique creates multiple art pieces – the piece on the current folio, the larger "whole" when it'southward completely unfurled, and the piece that is constantly changing depending on how many layers are overlapping. Art does take backbone, and yet I'm surprised past how freeing this shared journal has been. While I initially felt force per unit area to create something "good," that quickly gave manner. Especially with this kickoff round of art in the journal, I'grand not responsible for a finished product. Knowing this allowed me to put more trust in the creative process and my artistic partner, to have more risks, and to allow my imagination to take me new places. I trust that anything that'south non working will evolve in Cait'due south hands, modify in relation to what Cait does on the page around it, or I'll know how to transform it afterward.

I'thousand about to postal service mine today, and now I can't expect to run into the journal Cait is sending! Here'due south a few more peeks into what I've started:
I got playful with splats and scraping here. This page has a layer of booze inks, liquid acrylics, my new obsession, and blackness pen.
The splatter-like form above was inspired by a piece I saw on Instagram. I subsequently learned the artist did information technology with the computer – glad I didn't know that in the starting time place, I would never had tried.
I similar this folio, it's mysterious and too reminds me of The Little Prince.

i. Both artists buy (or make) a periodical and make fine art on multiple pages.
